November 1986 – Diana chose a monochrome evening gown - created by her wedding dress designers, David and Elizabeth Emanuel - and a pearl and diamond tiara for a party during a royal tour of Saudi Arabia.
"She wanted the dress to be something that people would love to watch," said Elizabeth Emanuel who, with her husband David, designed the gown. Seamstress Nina Missetzia spent three months hand-stitching the creation.
A black taffeta dress worn by Princess Diana has been sold for a whopping £192,000 at Kerry Taylors auction in London. The late princess wore the dress to her first official appearance with Prince Charles in 1981, which lead to a media frenzy for its revealing nature and unorthodox colour. The dress was created by designers Elizabeth and David Emanuel.
