Two years ago on a cold blue night in Park City, Utah, Elizabeth Smart (Gilmour) saved a teen's life. But the real miracle? Smart wasn’t even there. She didn’t need to be. The spirit of her struggles and story were heard…
Elizabeth Smart, a kidnapping and sexual assault victim who has devoted her adult life to combating human trafficking, made national headlines earlier this year when she voiced a critique about abstinence-only education. Emphasizing purity ultimately makes rape victims feel worthless, Smart pointed out, and that’s why she felt “dirty and filthy” after she was sexually assaulted.
Swarovski- - I can't help thinking about Elizabeth nee' Smart ( I don't know her married name) but when she was kidnapped, one of the pictures they showed of her was one where she was in recital with her harp. We couldn't hear but it didn't matter; the way she was dressed and her "form" showed me that she could !
Smart was raised in a religious household & had a teacher who promoted abstinence comparing sex to chewing gum. “I’m that chewed up piece of gum, nobody re-chews a piece of gum, you throw it away.’ & that’s how easy it is to feel like you no longer have value,” Smart said. “Why would it even be worth screaming out? Why would it even make a difference if you are rescued? Your life still has no value.” Smart said "you will always have value & nothing can change that."
Brian David Mitchell born in 1953, is a former street preacher. In June 2002 He kidnapped Elizabeth Smart and held her captive for 9 months in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was convicted in US Federal District Court and was sentenced to life in prison on May 25, 2011.
