Beautiful example of editorial design. I love the balance and rhythm of the angular shapes that dance across almost each page. The designer created a pleasing shape and balance with the negative space on each spread. Designing every aspect of each page.
Some examples of editorial slips made by the Church in the Bible: "Ye will be as gods!" "When thou art alone then I am with thee." “If thou would 'st pray enter into thy chamber ..." The parable of the unjust steward. ~Carl Jung, Conversations with C.G. Jung, Page 45.
Browns Editions, John Ross, The Lonely Road // another example of type being offset to 90 degrees, meaning the reader must turn their head or the book, again being asked to act their part in the narrative.
As I wear a lot of white this is one of the main inspirations for my design to use white space. This is to create a clean look that I use in my appearance and design work. It's also to frame the work and allow the type to breath. This book is w prefect example of how I want my book to look and flow.
