"fall out shelters" 1964 ad....we moved into a house in 1966 that had a fall-out shelter with a square nautilus entrance, two sets of bunk beds, and lots of shelves for food and water, and as privacy corner with bucket and topped barrel for private doings :)

It was recommended that people stay in the shelter full time for at least 14 days after a nuclear blast.
