The blue stripe represents the clear blue skies over Ecuador and its vast coastal regions. The red stripe represents the patriotic spirit of the countrymen and the lives lost in Ecuador's fight for freedom. The condor represents shelter and protection and defense against foreign attacks. The coat of arms represents the dignity and pride of Ecuador.
