Lincoln was the luxury car division of Ford Motor Company. Lincoln was founded by Henry Leland an early partner of Henry Ford, who became an enemy after a falling out over the first company Ford organized. The first Ford company became Cadillac under the leadership of Leland. After leaving Cadillac, Leland founded Lincoln in 1917. Facing bankruptcy, Leland sold the company to Ford in 1922 and Lincoln has been a part of Ford Motor Company since then.
