Gary Loizzo, who had a Top 10 hit in 1967 with “Bend Me, Shape Me” as the lead singer of the American Breed, died on Saturday (Jan. 16). In addition to his recording career, he owned Pumpkin Studios, where he engineered many hit albums by Styx, and had also been Styx’s live soundman for many years. Loizzo was 70, and had been suffering from pancreatic cancer for the past two-and-a-half years.

Gary Loizzo, who had a Top 10 hit in 1967 with “Bend Me, Shape Me” as the lead singer of the American Breed, died on Saturday (Jan. 16). The American Breed – Bend Me, Shape Me (1968): The American Breed was a male quartet (Al Ciner, Gary Loizzo, Lee Grazanio and Chuck Colbern) that scored a Top Ten hit with their Bend Me, Shape Me single in 1968. This was their second of five album releases plus “Best Of” albums. I found this album to be surprisingly entertaining. Favorite tracks: Bend Me, Shape Me*Something You’ve Got*Don’t Make Me Leave You*Green Light*Don’t It Make You Cry. I enjoyed them on vinyl today, 12/14/2016. Rating…
