Eblouissante, Zenyatta’s half sister out of Vertigineux, won her first race by four lengths today! She did it coming from way behind, just like the Queen, and in utterly convincing fashion. The racing world is abuzz. Such is the love for Zenyatta. And such was the excellent running by Eby!
CREPELLO ( GB) Ch c 1954, Donatello II - Crepuscule. 5 starts, 3 wins, 1 placing. Winner 1957 2000 Guineas, Epsom Derby. An outstanding horse whose best was never seen because of fragile legs, he nevertheless was often named by champion jockey, Lester Piggott, as the best horse he ever rode. Retired to stud, he was Leading Sire in Britain & Ireland in 1969 and Leading Broodmare Sire in 1974. His sire record was affected by the fact he passed his bad legs on to much of his progeny.
Frankel (2008, 4yo horse Galileo - Kind) is deserved of legendary status. 14 wins from 14 starts culminating in his last start Oct 2012 win taking the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth 11 stakes for the second year in a row. Sadly he is being retired to stud as a 4yo denying him of further greatness.
