George Bush (July 6, 1946) 43rd President 2001-2009 The 2000 election was close and controversial. The 9-11 terrorist attacks occurred 8 mos into his presidency. Bush launched the War on Terror. He promoted policies on the economy, health care, education, social security reform. He signed Patriot Act, No Child Left Behind Act, Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, and tax cuts. Bush was criticized for his handling of Iraq War and Hurricane Katrina, and in 2007 the US entered The Great Recession.
