In December I heard Dacher Keltner, from The UC Berkely Greater Good Science Center, speak at The Facebook HQ Compassion Research Day. The lesson: Behavior is a habit of mind + compassion can be learned.
I had to mull this over for a bit, and think about the wolf. Then, it all made sense. At first glance the wolf would appear to be lonely, because he does not follow the crowd (sheep), but rather has a small community that understands that we must work together for the greater good. This is a beautiful analogy.
