How cool is it that Lauren Wheeler (@Lo_Wheelhouse), a stylist and owner of Wheelhouse Salon in San Clemente Beach, CA, so efficiently—and generously—shares her process and formula on Instagram with these photos and text? Very cool. "I applied my foils ear-to-ear and part way down the crown and I foiled mostly the dark roots," says Wheeler. Chinese Empress Cix oil painting portrait by Hubert Vos (1855 – 1935), Dutch painter. He studied at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, exhibited widely and was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists. Upon seeing the quality of his portraits, the Empress invited Vos to visit China in 1905. He did one portrait of her, still displayed in the Summer Palace, and painted another portrait which was displayed at the Paris Salon and later gifted to the Fogg Museum at Harvard.
