The series first aired on ABC-TV, in 1977. Roots received 37 Emmy Award nominations and won nine. which still holds a record as the third highest rated episode for any type of television series, and the second most watched overall series finale in US television history.

Cagney & Lacey...I enjoyed watching this show and the dynamics of their gender bond. Again...it was a time when more strong women were starting to be represented in what used to be the patriarchal land of men on television.
