Virginia was the first permanent colony. Unfortunately , numerous settlers died of starvation and disease. However, others were able to survive because the Native Americans helped them by teaching them how to hunt and gather food along with information on certain plants and herbs that were good for the human body.

DIY BACKYARD POND & LANDSCAPE WATER FEATURE

Diy garden waterfall and pond. I have this exact pond form, and have been wondering what exactly to with it (it came with the house we bought, had been stuck in the ground and was a mosquito resort). I relocated it, but was rather at a loss about how to go about doing something great with it. Now I have a plan! One more thing to add to the spring to-do list!

Louise McNeill was one of West Virginia's poet lauretes. Her memoir, Milkweed Ladies, tells of six generations of her family and their farm. Her book of poetry, Elderberry Flood, tells the history of West Virginia in verse. If you read just one West Virginia author, read McNeill!

Heralded as Virginia Woolf's greatest novel, this is a vivid portrait of a single day in a woman's life. When we meet her, Mrs. Clarissa Dalloway is preoccupied with the last-minute details of party preparation while in her mind she is something much more than a perfect society hostess. As she readies her house, she is flooded with remembrances of faraway times.
