Hypoglossal Nerve- there is a remote possibility that hypoglossal nerve damage can occur with Brachial Plexus injuries. This can affect tongue movement. Some people affect can experience pain in the back of tongue, numbness or tingling in the lips or tongue. Tongue movement can be affected depending on the severity of the injury and nerve roots involved (cervical plexus) i.e., displaced nerve roots, avulsion or stretch injuries. In Erb palsy this is a phenomenon more common in babies.
