I tried this with my last novel that entwined three major story lines involving 4-5 different characters. The color coding helps you realize if the plot's too fixated on one part of the action or on a particular character. Being able to actually see this helps you keep things moving forward to the end.

Index card holders are really great for making cute revision notes, you can make them as pretty as you want.-->This is an excellent idea! Wish I had seen/known about this earlier. Make an index card after each class or section to review at the end of the semester before exams. Don't have to make all of them at the same time and makes it easier when you just learned about them.

My Version of this: http://www.designsponge.com/2010/12/diy-project-vintage-postcard-calendar-journal.html Thanks for the awesome idea design sponge! I'm so excited for this!
This is a one-liner journal. There is one index card for each day of the year. You write the date: then a sentence about what you did that day. Cycle through, and you should be able to do this for 14 years because there are 14 lines on the index cards!
