An Iraqi emigré, Zainab Salbi has dedicated her life to her grassroots humanitarian and development organization that helps women brutalized by rape and war, @Women for Women International International.

The main role of women in Iraq is to maintain and protect the family. Since the United States invasion of the country in 2003, the war has left many women with less freedom and fewer rights. Many women are concerned about personal safety, the economic situation, and gender equality. Access to basic services is limited for women, and poverty is rampant. Iraqi women struggle to find their voice and educate and raise their children and maintain a safe prosperous household.

Tuskegee Air WOMEN!!!

Six decades after our Tuskegee sisters broke the barrier in the military, former Marine Captain Vernice Armour  became the first female African American combat pilot in 2003. Yes she did.  Yes we can.

A young Iraqi woman whose father allegedly ran her over because she became 'too westernised' has died in hospital. Noor Faleh Almaleki, 20, underwent spinal surgery and was in a coma for nearly two weeks before she finally succumbed to her horrific injuries.

Marine Cpl Jennifer M. Parcell, 20, of Bel Air, Maryland. Died February 7, 2007, serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Assigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 3, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa, Japan. Died of injuries sustained when an Iraqi woman she was searching at a checkpoint detonated an improvised explosive device hidden in a suicide vest in Barwanah, Anbar Province, Iraq.
