This gown, was custom-made from an original model from Eleanor of Toledo, wife of Cosimos I de Medici from1562. The full flow of this gown in black velvet as well as its optical division through the use of luxuriant wide brocade braids and gold lacings, true to the geometrical, ideally proportioned triangular forms of the Renaissance, lend this gown its majestic austerity. It is consequently complimented by a hairstyle with a centre-parting and a simple hair-net.

Another gorgeous Italian Renaissance inspired dress from The Borgias. I like the three different fabrics: velvet, print silk and solid silk.
