Facade of modern Japanese home outside Tokyo. Designed for ventilation during peak summer temperatures, this three-story modern home outside of Tokyo uses traditional Japanese interior design strategies. The climate was one of the biggest design challenges for co-designstudio’s Yanagisaki House, especially when the clients desired a low-energy, mostly passively cooled home.
This is essentially how id like to have my bath and showers be...tubs meant for soaking in only, external showers done sitting down before bathing. This isnt the best picture, but you get the general idea. The baths were one of the things I loved best about Japan, and I intend to integrate their sensibilities into my home.
Japanese house I really want to have some sort of equivalent to the Japanese wrap around porch...only someone would put some chairs on it or something and it would become a cluttered mess because it's so narrow, or access to it is wierd.... I can't figure out how to make it work into my dream house designs. Sigh.
