Thursday, March 23, 2017~ Last summer/fall's drought caused the little dogwood outside my kitchen window to die. Almost cried when I realized it was gone. Mike dug it up today and to console me over the situation, he planted a Japanese Maple...I've wanted one of these a long time. Hope one day, mine will look like this. I do have purple irises that look a lot like the purple flowers in this photo!! And they're blooming now! Stay at home and piddle around here day.
Gardening expert Mike McGroarty of Mike's Backyard Nursery planted herbaceous perennials and trees of varying heights — lavender twist red bud tree and a laceleaf weeping Japanese red maple — to form this "island" in his front yard.
