Crystal Mill is located along the Crystal River four miles down a bumpy 4x4 shelf road near Marble Colorado. The mill compressed air for rock drills at nearby mines. After taking several late afternoon shots near the river, I climbed back up to a level spot to wait out the setting sun and the long shadows. Forty minutes after the sunset, I was able to capture the mill and the time-lapsed flowing water with an 8-second exposure. Prints @ BuiterPhotography.etsy.com
Gilman, Colorado, Abandoned mining town. Looks pretty but It was abandoned in 1984 by order of the Environmental Protection Agency because of toxic pollutants, including contamination of the ground water, as well as unprofitability of the mines.
