Julie Andrews played the original Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady on Broadway. When Jack Warner was making the film adaptation, Julie was passed over for the role in favor of Audrey Hepburn, which made her available to accept Walt Disney's invitation to be Mary Poppins. Ironically, Julie Andrews and Audrey Hepburn squared off at the 22nd Annual Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress for their performances in Mary Poppins and My Fair Lady, respectively. Julie had the last laugh :)
Julie Andrews - Does this even need an explanation? She is the epitome of class. I think she's a brilliant, intelligent and funny actress who, besides all that, has set a lovely example of how to be a lady.
