His military success in the 100 Yrs' War, ending with his famous victory at the Battle of Agincourt, saw him come close to conquering France. After  negotiating with Charles VI of France, the Treaty of Troyes recognised Henry V as heir-apparent to the French throne. He married Charles' daughter, Catherine of Valois.
