Knights Hospitallers, 14th century Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem . Founded in 1099 in the aftermath of the first Crusade. The order includes military, medical and pastoral Brothers. After the fall of Acre, they escaped to Cyprus, conquered and ruling Rhodes 1309-1522,and Malta 1530-1801. My dads side has traced themselves back to these guys.

The Knights Hospitaller were Knights of the Order of Saint John the Hospitaller who were also known by such names as Knights of Rhodes, Knights of Malta, Cavaliers of Malta, and Order of St John of Jerusalem. The Hospitallers grew out of a brotherhood for the care of sick pilgrims in a hospital at Jerusalem following the First Crusade in 1100 AD.
