Beatrix Potter home/Lake District. As a child, I didn't care for Ms. Potter's stories, which were more depressing than entertaining. However, I do admire Ms. Potter's artistry and success, her strength of character in the face of societal constraints, and her efforts to preserve the Lake District. She was before her time; I would like to believe that we would have been friends if we had met.
Beatrix Potter bought Hill Top in 1905, having fallen in love with the Lake District and the surrounding area. Over the next few years she spent as much time as possible at Hill Top, gaining inspiration for her stories from the farmhouse and the local villages.
