"Miracle on Ice" is the name for a medal-round men's ice hockey game during the 1980 Winter Olympics at Lake Placid, New York, on Friday, 2/22. Team USA, made up of amateur & collegiate players & led by coach Herb Brooks, defeated the Soviet Union national team, who had won nearly every world championship & Olympic tournament since 1954. Team USA went on to win the gold medal by winning its last match over Finland. The Soviet Union took the silver medal by beating Sweden in its final game.

And finally, my last measurement idea (for now) comes from Family Fun. Make a marshmallow catapult. This could be an in class (group) project or a homework assignment, depending on how you wanted to do it. Either way, launch a few marshmallows, measure their distance and record your answers. http://familyfun.go.com/crafts/marshmallow-catapult-874571/
