The use of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" in Wayne's World propelled the song to #2 in Billboard singles charts nearly 20 years after its first release in 1975. Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of Queen, died of bronchial pneumonia resulting from AIDS a few months before the film's release in 1992.

Lady Gaga claims that her name was inspired by the 1980s Queen hit "Radio GaGa" to show her shared spirit with Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of Queen. However, the video of this song took scenes from the 1927 movie Metropolis. This movie tells the story of a working class lady that is given the life of a robot through a mix of science and Black Magic. The robot could again symbolize the mindlessness of Lady Gaga's persona.
