Learning Targets for your "I Can" Statements

5 Learning Target Signs for the basic subjects: reading, writing, math, science and social studies. Display these signs and write your learning target underneath. A learning target helps students grasp the lesson's purpose--why it is crucial to learn this chunk of information, on this day, and in this way.

I would love to use this in my classroom so the children can see what they are supposed to be learning. How do you use learning targets in class?

I love this! Our class is really working on transitions. We do great until we have to move! Going to lunch, specials, even to the rug! *sigh* Hopefully something like this will help! We can use it for academic goals too!

Fist to 5 is a simple, yet effective strategy that you can use in your classroom every day and with any topic or subject area. It allows students to reflect on and assess their own learning, to quickly give you an idea of how they feel they are doing, and it works seamlessly in conjunction with Learning Targets, or I Can Statements.
