Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium at night. The Liberty Bowl was founded in 1959 by Ambrose "Bud" Dudley in Philadelphia, PA and was named in honor of that city's historic importance.  As the only cold-weather post-collegiate bowl, it failed miserably.  After a one-year failure in Atlantic City in 1964, the Liberty Bowl was moved permanently to MEMPHIS,TN in 1965.  On December 16, 1965, a healthy crowd of 38,607 (nearly 3x Philly or Atlantic City) came to watch Ole Miss defeat Auburn, 13-7.
