When inadequacy of oxygen supply is prolonged, late symptoms include bradycardia, extreme restlessness and dyspnea. In pediatrics, the symptoms of hypoxia can be easily remembered with the acronym FINES – feeding difficulty, inspiratory stridor, nares flare, expiratory grunting and sterna retractions.
