Feigning innocence: Manipulators suggest that any harm done was unintentional and that they did not do something they were accused of. Manipulators put on a look of surprise or indignation. This tactic makes the victims question their own judgment and sanity.
Diversion: Manipulators do not give straight answers to questions. Instead, they steer the conversation onto another topic. This tactic is used to evade being truthful without actually lying. It is also used to divert attention away from their own behavior & redirect attention away from their behavior & redirect it to a flaw - real or fabricated - in their target.
