"Your eye say no no no but your lips say yes yes yes." Richard Dreyfus and Marsha Mason play Eliot and Paula, an aspiring broadway actor and a struggling dancer. Eliot rents Paula's apartment from her boyfriend who deserts her. She agrees to let him stay and everything about him irratates her. She grits on his nerves as well but fighting turns to love. When he gets a movie deal, will he leave her? A leaky phone booth and a guitar tells the real answer. One of my favorite movie couples ever!
The Goodbye Girl (1977)Adapted from the Neil Simon play, The Goodbye Girl has oddball neurotic Elliot Garfield (Richard Dreyfuss, in an Oscar-winning role) slowly winning over dancer Paula McFadden (Marsha Mason). The two butt heads as they’re forced to share an apartment along with Paula’s daughter, but as is often the case, hostility turns to love.
