French artist, Henri Matisse (1869–1954) known for his use of color. He was a draughtsman, printmaker, & sculptor, but is known primarily as a painter. Although he was initially labelled a Fauve (wild beast), by the 1920s he was increasingly hailed as an upholder of the classical tradition in French painting ~ I love the combination of russet and greenish blue.
Henri Matisse: "La Femme En Jaune". The model is Henriette Darricarrère, who Matisse often painted in the role of "a musician, playing the piano, accompanied by a violin, as in the present composition, or as a painter in front of an easel. On other occasions Matisse dressed her in exotic oriental costumes, and painted her in the role of the Odalisque, one of his most celebrated subjects".
