French artist, Henri Matisse (1869–1954) known for his use of color. He was a draughtsman, printmaker, & sculptor, but is known primarily as a painter. Although he was initially labelled a Fauve (wild beast), by the 1920s he was increasingly hailed as an upholder of the classical tradition in French painting ~ I love the combination of russet and greenish blue.

Matisse painted Collioure, one of my favorite places in France...or quite possibly the entire world.
