Minwax Color Guide. Stain samples on a white oak floor. From top: Jacobean, Ebony, Dark Walnut, 50/50 Jacobean and Ebony, 50/50 Jacobean and Dark Walnut, and English Chestnut at the bottom. We went with 50/50 Jacobean and Dark Walnut and love it! It's hard to describe colors, but if I worked for Miniwax Color Naming Dept., I would call it Pecan.
Use Minwax Special Walnut stain for the first layer, brushing it on a little at a time, and then wiping it off. After that dried overnight, use Sherwin Williams Pro Classic water based paint in Jargon Jade, and paint the whole thing. Once that layer was dry, hit the whole thing with a sander, taking a good portion of the paint layer off.
