The New Forest National Park isn't actually new, since it was created by William the Conqueror in 1079 for the pursuit of Beasts of the Chase- namely red, roe, fallow deer and wild pig- but it has only been a National Park since 2005. This large area of heathland and forest covers south-west Hampshire, extends into south-east Wiltshire.
