Love in a Mist (Nigella papillosa) While this plant looks quite fragile, it’s one of the hardiest early bloomers in the garden. Its brilliant ferny leaves and lacy, star-shaped flowers are framed by a delicate halo of fringed foliage. When left on the plant, the flowers form dramatic black seed pods which add a unique textural element to any bouquet. Seed available from Floret.
We had these yummy potatoes for Easter after hearing the recipe on the radio. It comes from Nigellas book Feast: Food to Celebrate Life. We were all afraid they would be overpowering because the whole house smelled like garlic, but they were wonderful - crispy and brown with a lovely roasted garlic flavor!
