Sometimes it can be difficult to motivate residents in nursing homes to attend and participate in scheduled activities. It is important that you identify any barriers - whether perceived or real - that might be preventing residents from getting involved.

I want to be an activities coordinator at a nursing home when I graduate. I love working with the elderly, so I hope that I will graduate with a TR major with a Gerontology minor or emphasis. And how fun does this look?!

Homemade Non-Skid Socks We used diabetic/circulatory socks (perfect for swollen feet). After washing the socks without fabric softener, we decorated the bottoms from heel to toe with fabric puff paint. Lines, dots, squiggles! You just have to make sure to use thick lines when making your designs so that there is plenty of traction on the bottoms. Leave socks flat and let dry for at least 4 hours. These are going to a nursing home, but they are great for anyone!
