Picasso..blue period painting.  The National Gallery's exhibit of Picasso's early years, which included his blue period, was one of the best I've ever seen.  It provided lots of insight into the connection between the life of the artist and his art.

The Ironer - Pablo Picasso. When I saw this painting, I couldn't help put stare at it for at least 20 minutes. The emotions, the fatigue of the subject is palpable and so moving.
