Pixy Stix. Pixy Stix contents were originally sold as a drink mix in the 1940s but the manufacturer learned that kids were eating the sweet and sour powder right out of the package instead of mixing it with water. In the 1950s the tasty powder was repackaged as Pixy Stix.

Pixie Stix Martini: 1 oz. Vodka, 1 oz. Sour Grape Pucker, 1/2 oz. Sour Island Punch Pucker, 4 oz. Sour Mix, 1 splash Sprite, 2 pixie sticks (grape) Mixing Instructions: Use one pixie stick to rim your martini glass. Shake ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice excluding the Sprite. Strain into glass. Add a splash of Sprite and sprinkle the other grape pixie stick on top.

Pic Up Stix -- another low-tech toy for rainy afternoons. You threw the sticks into the air and let them pile up on the floor. Then you tried to remove them one by one without disturbing the other sticks. Fiendish!
