Polycystic Kidney Disease or PKD is one of the most common life threatening genetic diseases. PKD causes fluid filled cysts form in the kidneys and destroy them resulting in kidney failure. A healthy kidney is about the size of your fist. PKD kidneys can grow larger than a football and weigh 10 to 20 lbs each! There are approximately 12.5 million people worldwide that have PKD. It affects more people than Muscular Dystrophy, Cycle Cell Anemia, Cystic Fibrosis, & Downs Syndrome combined!
