He allied with Ferdinand II and the Venetians against France.In short time,both Henry VIII,King of England (1509–47), and Maximilian I also joined the "Holy League of 1511."His remains, along with those of his uncle, Pope Sixtus IV, were later desecrated during the Sack of Rome in 1527.
Pope Julius II, Pope from 1503 until 1513, during the very early years of Henry's reign, well before Henry's issues with the Church and Anne Boleyn came into the picture. Julius was responsible for issuing the special dispensation for Henry to marry Catherine of Aragon (needed because she had been previously married to his brother Arthur).
