The Olympics seems to bring out the best in stamp designers over recent times — and looking back I can see what a powerful visual record they are and what a loss it will be when digital eventually brings the end of ‘snail mail’.
Fruit Stamps by Christopher Dina. The bright colors and simple shapes of this design caught my eye. It reminds me of the Pop Art Era, specifically of the pop artist Andy Warhol. It is clean and modern with a fun twist on 1960s art. The fact that the subject of the design is an everyday object adds to the simplicity and allows the eye to more appreciate the bright colors. Therefore, color is the most prominent design choice in this work.
