Self-portrait of Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828-1882) in 1847  Poet, artist, and celebrated bohemian.   Founded the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood with John Millais and Holman Hunt  both better painters, though  DGR's  graphic work was extremely good.   His poetry is under-appreciated but first rate.  His sister Christina Rosetti was also a remarkable poet.

I like how Evelyn de Morgan uses texture to tell a story in this painting. This is Medea. The marble, even her cloths, look heavy. You can feel this huge weight that seems like it's blocking her in on all sides so her only option is to continue forward. OK it's kind of dark, but still a pretty awesome painting
