Prince Michael of Kent (Michael George Charles Franklin; born 4 July 1942) is a grandson of King George V and Queen Mary, making him a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II. He is also the first cousin once removed of Prince Philip, and a great-great grandson of Tsar Alexander II of Russia and his first wife, Empress Marie Alexandrovna. He served in the 11th Hussars.
Prince Michael of Kent is the second son of Prince George and Princess Marina of Kent. He is a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth and a first cousin once removed of Prince Philip. He has a strong interest in Russia and speaks fluent Russian. Tsar Nicholas II was first cousin to three of his grandparents. His DNA was used to identify the remains of the Romanov family.
