Silk satin dress with beaded embroidery designed by Hardy Amies for HM The Queen, 1972. This dress was worn by HM The Queen for her state visit to France in 1972. It was also worn in the official photograph taken to celebrate her Silver Jubilee in 1977. This image was widely reproduced on many commemorative items. It was also used by Andy Warhol for his screen prints “Reigning Queens” in 1985 and by the Sex Pistols on their “God Save the Queen” album cover.
