1 The Radcliffe Band was formed in 1913 and their first engagement was at a Whit Friday walk in 1914 with the Band wearing straw hats and waistcoats. The Band took on the name of Radcliffe Prize Band, changing to Radcliffe Borough Band in 1935 when Radcliffe Urban District became Radcliffe Borough. In 1937, the Band had their finest hour, when it won first prize at Alexandra Palace,London, beating 31 other bands to the supreme award under the baton of Wilfred Riley,
