When a person experiences a traumatic event, especially as a child, it may not be remembered until well into adulthood. The term repressed memory is derived from the term dissociative amnesia, which is defined in as “an inability to recall important personal information, usually of a traumatic or stressful nature, that is too extensive to be explained by ordinary forgetfulness” The existence of repressed memories remains a controversial subject in the Psychological community

Memories are funny things. The concept of repressed memories is that a memory is unconsciously blocked by an individual due to the high level of stress or trauma contained in that memory. My case was a little different. I had all of the memories. I remembered all of the events, they just seemed like unrelated fragments. www.noworkingtitle.org
