Ring-necked Pheasant. Winter,1990. Cope, Colorado. My father and brother used to go to the little town of Cope Colorado for the pheasant hunt every year. I was a terrible shot and could never bag a bird.
I would like to raise Ring Neck Pheasants and release them to increase the population. I used to hunt with my Dad when I was little, one of my fondest childhood memories, although I never carried a gun and was most content walking the slew and watching the dogs work. Hunting is not as good as it used to be due to a diminished population. What a fun and rewarding way to give back!
Ring-Necked Pheasant - came across one of these (male) while walking my dogs one day. I would NEVER have seen him if it were not for my dogs, who were straining at the leash to get closer. Amazing how such a colourful bird can be virtually invisible! I was within a couple metres of it!
