The romanesque church of Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère was constructed in the century. Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, situated on the Vézère River (a tributary of the Dordogne), is listed as one of "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France.
Romanesque style is marked by great variation in decoration. The carvings are very geometric and appear above the portal (archway) into a cathedral. Note the columns are slender with a smallish capital.
