This photo of Rosalia Lombardo was taken in 1984. Why is that interesting? She was the last person buried in the catacombs of the Capuchin Monastery 64 years before this photo was taken, in 1920.

This is a timelapse of the eyes of the mummified child named Rosalia Lombardo, who passed away in December, 1920. Over the space of years, Rosalia’s eyes appear to open and close, as if she’s just waking in the morning. She is interred in the Capuchin Catacombs in Palermo, Sicily.

Rosalia Lombardo, is an Italian child mummy. She died in 1920 at the age of two. She's almost perfectly preserved even though she's been dead for 93 years. She still has all her organs, skin, and even eyes and.... Her EYES OPEN AND CLOSE!! It's due to temperature change (they think) but seriously, that's too much! Eyes give me the heebie-jeebies!

Rosalia Lombardo was born in 1918 in Palermo, Sicily and died on December 6 1920. Rosalia's father approached Dr. Alfredo Salafia, a noted embalmer, to preserve her. She was one of the last to be admitted to the Capuchin catacombs of Palermo in Sicily. She appears as if she were only sleeping, hence receiving the name "Sleeping Beauty" . She is kept in a small chapel at the end of the catacomb's tour and is encased in a glass covered coffin, placed on a marble pedestal.
