This is a chart of the Runes and their meanings. I keep a copy of this in my BOS for reference occasionally. Between knowing the Tarot, then the Runes, a witch's brain does tend to get overloaded and need a cheat sheet.
Runes-letters modified from Phoenician alphabet. Runic was often written without spaces between words & where 2 of the same letter sat beside each other only one would be used. It was written both from left to right & right to left. It was mainly used to label items with the owner's name & was considered magical as most people were illiterate & did not understand the concept of symbols representing sounds. This also led to their use in fortune telling.
Runic Alphabets - they served for divinatory and ritual purposes, as well as the more practical use; there are three main types of Runes; Germanic, Scandinavian/Norse, and Anglo-Saxon and they each have any number of variations, depending on the region from which they originate
anglo saxon runes--I know I'm a big geek for admitting this but Paul and I used to write letters to each other, share multiple choice answers during tests, etc using this alphabet. I don't remember a bit of it now though!
